Data, assumptions & battery settings

Store requires Generate; only surplus solar charges the stationary battery. Turning Generate off also turns Store off. Dashed gray = unchanged baseline. Shading shows power charging the battery (diagonal pattern) or supplied by it (solid fill).

24 hourly averages · kW, except stored energy (kWh) · rounded

All values are synthetic one-hour averages. Reduce removes a 70 kW unnecessary meeting-room cooling load during 09:00–17:00 (560 kWh/day), while maintaining occupied-space service by assumption. This is an operating-schedule example, not a comfort simulation or an estimate of insulation savings.

EVs are connected from 09:00 to 17:00, need 300 kWh of charger-side electricity in total, and can charge at an aggregate 100 kW. The baseline charges 09:00–12:00; Shift charges 12:00–15:00. Both finish before departure. Charger and vehicle losses are held constant and not modeled separately. EVs do not discharge into the building.

Generate uses the same rooftop-solar profile in every combination. Solar serves site demand first; surplus is exported unless a battery can store it. Export eligibility and limits are assumed for this example, not asserted for a particular building.

Store represents a separate stationary battery: 800 kWh usable capacity, 250 kW maximum charging/discharging power, 95% efficiency each way (90.25% round-trip). It starts and ends empty; it charges only from surplus solar before 16:00 and never charges and discharges simultaneously. Available stored energy depends on the selected site demand and solar surplus. The two dispatch goals use the same energy and hardware for a given combination: either discharge as early as possible from 16:00, or allocate energy across 16:00–24:00 to minimize the highest hourly import. Forecasts are assumed known. If Generate is turned off, Store is automatically turned off.

Lower grid import or peak does not establish lower costs or emissions; no tariff or emissions factors are modeled.
